I'm going to go there.
And if you've been reading for a while, you know where that is.
I'm not going to dog the man because he was in the Army*
And I'm not going to dog all the Army bullies who called him a "camel jockey".
I'm not going to dog him because he had a poor work ethic, was unprofessional and just plain weird. (audio 6:12 minutes)
Or because he was likely lonely and probably depressed.
Or because he was devout Muslim (read: Terrorist. Because they all are, you know.)
Or that, like many people, he was a walking contradiction.
Or because he committed treason.
And I'm not going to go off on the fact that, living in this country, he was able to legally buy an incredibly lethal kind of semi-automatic at "Guns Galore" (I know, I know. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Whatever.)
Nope.
I'm not touching any of that stuff.
Because the man was a psychiatrist.
Whacked. As a breed. I'm telling ya. ->

I've been considering this...I also kind of thought of it as a cautionary tale of why any mental health professional needs to "check themselves." Dude...you're Muslim...maybe you need to check yourself about how you might feel a little conflicted having to hear tales of an unjust war in a Muslim country. Think about it...you're hearing about Muslim folks being killed...you're also hearing about some young man or woman being completely traumatized and mentally wounded by that same war...even if you aren't a whacko psychiatrist, you could be driven to want to shoot someplace up with that kind of war going on in your head!

Naturally the (conservative) media picks up and runs with the fact that he was a Muslim. But I think that's a minor detail that pales in comparison to the fact that the guy was nuts.
Of course, that's a foregone conclusion if you're going *to pick up a gun and start shooting people willy nilly*.
We may never really know why he did it. BUT I can say that I feel you have to be somewhat whacked to kill unarmed people. And whacked people come in all shapes, sizes, colors, religions, careers,etc.
